Royksopp / Poor Leno (Silicon Soul’s Hypno House Dub) / Wall of Sound n n
I am attracted to the organic approach to the sound of this track. I really n love the “subby”, dirty base and the hypnotic sounds. There is a progression n within the record with a vocal drop that is worth the wait. There is also a n synth line that slowly creeps into the mix that really gets you in a sublime n way on the dance floor. It is really great when a record keeps its simplicity, n yet is as effective as this one is at a small club or a large event. Royksopp n is always producing great, original music to remix.

I am really into this “Hard House Psychedelic” track at the moment. n The gated strings and the continuous atmosphere really get into your head by n the time the first base line comes in. Every time that I’ve played this n one out it really seems to lock the room into more of one collective focus. n This cut really seems to hit the nail on the head when it comes to the timing n of the sounds. When it drops into the last break it truly becomes a moment within n the club.

This is one that I’ve had a lot of fun warming up with. It has a very n cool intro that builds tension and really becomes rewarding when the first drums n come in. The track’s strength lies in the fact that the drum programming n is not traditional. The atmosphere reminds me of uplifting lonely moments. What n the producers were going after was something that I would very much be interested n in hearing more often. If you are looking for a piece in your collection that n is going to have staying power, this is the one.

As much as I feel that the tribal records have had their run, this track was n approached in a way that made me excited about the sound. This is definitely n a record that if you play a half hour of music with no big drop before it, it n really becomes very effective. The trippy delays within the vocals are not overused n and are effectively programmed. After the drop a second set of percussive instruments n come in over the top and really add a nice roll to the groove. And to top it n off, three quarters of the way through you have a really simple melody that n leaves you with no direction but up.
