As One Presents: Cocoon
July 8th 2006
Cocoon is one of the worlds most exciting and well-respected international club nights. The night has built its unblemished reputation largely on the success of their Frankfurt venue and six sensational summer seasons in Ibiza, where their Monday night parties at Amnesia has attracted an enormous and fiercely loyal following across Europe. With the Godfather of Techno, Sven Vath, at the helm, and regular guests including the much-feted Ricardo Villalobos, Richie Hawtin and Luciano, the music is unsurpassable, the DJs unmatched and the atmosphere one of hedonism and sheer abandon.
Their carefully selected residencies, including Frankfurt, Ibiza, Madrid and Rotterdam now takes in a regular London stop as the Cocoon revelers descend upon The End. Their launch at The End in March was laced with the kind of mayhem only Sven Vath is capable of creating as he embarked upon a marathon all-night session.
Cocoon are now gearing up for their second assault on The End, with a line up studded with the leading lights in the new generation of cutting-edge DJs and producers making waves right now. James Holden will be taking to the main room turntables for a set that will showcase his renowned eclecticism. Rising to prominence through his 1999 breakthrough track Horizons, his production work since has refused to be pigeon-holed as he touches on everything from electro to tech house to minimal. His DJ sets embrace the same unorthodox spirit; a unique blend of his own productions, acid house, techno, electro and downtempo with an underlying focus on melody that has won him an army of followers.
Joining him at the main room controls will be Germanys Loco Dice. Dices warped, warm, pioneering sets of techy house, electro and minimal are true crowd pleasers his performance at The End on New Years Day will stick in the memory for years to come! With releases on Ovum and Cocoon, plus the dancefloor melting Seeing Through Shadows on M_Nus fast becoming one of the tunes of the summer, hes one of the hottest producers around right now.
Secretsundaze promoter and resident James Priestley completes the main room line up. The runaway success of his parties over the last few years has earned him a loyal following. His unique style behind the decks sees him swing from minimal house and techno to 4/4 grooves through to punk-funk, disco and forgotten classics. Perfectly in tune with the dance floor, James knows exactly how to get a party moving, and is a fantastic addition to the Cocoon chaos.
The lounge boasts an equally impressive line up with the other half of Secretsundaze, Giles Smith, joining Dominik Eulberg, one of the dance worlds hottest properties, and Cocoon favourite Tobi Neumann. This superbly diverse selection of DJs will be drenching the room with their own unique sounds; expect to see the lounge rocking!
In AKA, Blonde will be providing the perfect foil to the havoc being reaped by Cocoon downstairs. Special guest Ralph Lawson and residents Luke vB and Tim Red will be supplying a sound track of the finest deep, dirty, techy house music. Blonde has been a fixture at AKA for five years now, with its cutting edge music policy and friendly, inclusive vibe continuing to attract a loyal crowd in 2006.
