secretsundaze Jubilee Bank Holiday Special

2pm to Midnight

Joy Orbison (Hot Flush, Doldrums, London)
Nyra (Never Learnt, Elastic Dreams, Sheffield)
Giles Smith (Two Armadillos, secretsundaze, London, UK)
James Priestley (Simple, secretsundaze, The CAMP, London, UK)
For our second party of the summer season we are looking forward to go back to the House and Terrace, the scene of a number of very special secretsundaze parties over the last few years. The outdoor, isolated terrace with no sound restrictions (so rare in an open air party in this day and age) makes it a perfect choice for a daytime secretsundaze. Joining us for the second bank hoilday of summer we have
Chicago house legend and pioneer Lil Louis and shooting star Joy Orbison.
Louis’s record and history speaks for itself as one of the original creators of this thing we call house music not to mention the legendary raves he threw in his hometown of Chicago with his legendary Bismarck sound system. His contribution to the discography of House is immense with tracks like French Kiss, Blackout, I Called You and Club Lonely still being a major feature in the record bags of credible house and techno djs to this day. He has worked alongside other luminaries such as Larry Heard and Lil Louis Vega.  He is currently working night and day to edit his film / documentary on the history and development of house and his role in this  entitled  ”Get Down” which is due to be premiered at the Amsterdam Dance Event in October this year.
Joy Orbison has without any doubt made a huge dent on our collective consciousness over the last few years with his music being played and loved across the board from bass, house and techno heads alike. Hyph Mngo on Scuba’s Hot Flush was selected as the Best record of 2009 by Resident Advisor a huge accolade and propelled him to the next level but he has not rested on his laurels and moved on to release other gems such as Ladywell, Swims with Boddika and forthcoming the long anticipated Ellipsis out later this month. Joy is a great party DJ covering many bases and we look forward to having him on board once again.
Finally in support we are happy to welcome on board new Secret Agency artist Nyra. Nyra hailing from Sheffield has released one of this years bangers with the first release on new London label “Never Learnt” entitled “Best Of” getting smashed by DJs such as Radio Slave, Mr G, Ben Sims and Cosmin TRG and our very own Giles Smith and James Priestley. We played with him up in Sheffield at his Low Down party and were impressed by his great warm up set and fluid deep techno vibe. Definitely one to watch for the future.
This terrace in Greenwich really has become one of our homes over the last few years and we are very much looking forward to making our trip there this season. Hold tight!

secretsundaze Roof Party
Sunday July 1st
The Bussey Building – Peckham
1pm to 9.30pm
Daniel Bell
Braiden
Flori
Giles Smith
James Priestley
For our 3rd more party of the season we are very happy to be going back south side to Peckham for a roof party on the Bussey Building. We were the first promoters to throw an event on this roof and anyone that came to either of parties last summer in June and July with the likes of Patrice Scott. Will Saul and Joy Orbison will testify how special it is. The roof is on the 6th storey of the building and has quite unbelievable views on one side looking to the city and on the other towards rolling country side on the periphery of London.
Guest wise we have a special line up with some real DJs’ DJs in the house in the shape of Detroit underground hero Dan Bell, London rising star Braiden and Secretsundaze artist Flori. Dan Bell has a serious CV working with Richie Hawtin as youngsters on the live techno project “Cybersonic” and running legendary distribution company and label Seventh Sign which focussed on pushing records by many native Detroit artists such as Mike Huckaby and Rick Wade. His production on his own imprint as DMX and KB Project are still highly regarded and coveted often going for silly money on Discogs. His DJing is quite exceptional with an immaculate selection and smooth, fluid mixing style. He is still based in Detroit but spends a number of month based in Berlin the the summer and we are fortunate to have bagged his main London gig.
Our second guest is one of the UK’s young hopes Braiden. Braiden is one of the new breed of UK artist, that has the innate ability and skill as a DJ to move around from many genres with ease and although coming from a bass background, has embraced House and Techno. You are as likely to hear a Kasem Mosse track in his sets as a Hessle Audio record.  He played for us on NYE in the Man Make Music room and killed it. He is quite a turntable wizard. Production wise he has released “The Alps” on Joy Orbison’s Doldrums imprint. He can be heard regularly on Rinse FM and we are sure with this talent his profile will rise and rise.
Finally secretsundaze young gun Flori, mature beyond his years DJ wise will be on warm up duties. He will be releasing the next secretsundaze release 005 for the label entitled “Lucy” on the following Monday after this party so good timing. Of course both founding members and residents Giles Smith and James Priestley will be on making appearances.
We are already very excited about returning to Bussey for another roof session. Tickets are much more limited than usual with the smaller capacity of the roof so don’t hang around and its already the most popular event in RA that day! Also take note due to the nature of this event we are starting slightly earlier and finishing slightly earlier. Doors open at 1pm.
Tickets are available on Resident Advisor here: http://www.residentadvisor.net/event.aspx?329576
