Computer Science is the imprint from French producer extraordinaire Lifelike, launched in 2010 with his own tracks ‘Love Emulator’ and ‘Silicon Love’. After several releases the label is back in 2012 with this brand new collab between Lifelike himself and french producer Popular Computer with ‘Getting High’ !

Popular Computer™ is Sylvain Dalido from Paris, France. Sylvain was one of the original Kitsuné artists and staff producers. His remixes of New Young Pony Club, Mylo, Hot Chip, Pacific!, The Whip and Japanese electro superstar Shinichi Osawamade waves around the world and led to DJ work across Europe and Asia. Popular Computer released his last album called ‘LiTE‘ February 20th 2012 on new label home, Schmooze (Chilly Gonzales and Housse De Racket).

Lifelike, the man behind classic cuts including ‘Black Chess’, ‘Radio 84’, ‘Adventure’ ‘Discopolis’ (with Kris Menace), ‘So Electric’, and ‘Sunset’, has previously released on seminal labels including Alan Braxe’s Vulture and Wall Of Sound. His remixing talent for acts such as La Roux, Vitalic, Empire Of The Sun, Chromeo or Moby have spread his unique sound to the masses. He’sactually working on his very first full length album that will feature collaborations with Chromeo, A-Trak, Electric Youth (from ‘Drive’ OST) and more.

‘Getting High‘ is Lifelike & Popular Computer very first insanely great single as a collab. They combined their talents to create this unique piece of electro-funk music. Frank Eddie, the new brainchild of Fred Deakin (ex-Lemon Jelly), has been releasing a series of vinyl only releases, via his own Impotent Fury imprint.  Indicative of Fred’s sound moving forward, the song showcases an effortless progression through kraut rock, disco and R&B, while never abandoning the innate sense of fun that has won him legions of fans in the past. During his 10 years with Lemon Jelly (who are currently on hiatus), Fred enjoyed vast critical acclaim as well as Mercury Music Prize and BRIT Award nominations.

The Beat- Herder Festival announces new names including Kraak and Smaak, System 7,Jalapeno Sound System, Eddy Temple Morris, Mr Woodnote and Lil Rhys, DJ Woody and many more.

The Beat – Herder Festival is excited to announce the final additions to the 2012 bill. Heading to Lancashire’s Ribble Valley for a UK festival exclusive will be The Netherlands’ finest electronic live act Kraak & Smaak. The Dutch trio will be headlining the coveted Beat-Herder Sunday evening slot along with their full live band. XFM’s Eddy Temple Morris will be entertaining the Friday evening crowds with the Sugarbeat Club in the woods along with Lancashire born DMC champion DJ Woody. Ambient techno outfit System 7 have also been added to the Saturday line- up with Jalapeno Sound System providing the funky beats on Sunday evening in the woods.

The aptly name Rajazzle Tent will see additions of Stealing Sheep , Mr Woodnote and Lil Rhys and Middleman and venue Trailer Trash will see additions Drum Machine (as featured on Britain’s Got Talent), The 59ers and Dub Smugglers. STUMBLEFUNK have added Skittles’n’that and Extra Love plus there will be DJ sets from Steve Thorpe and Ken Evil Vs Compa. Venues Smokey Tenticles and The Perfumed Garden Stage will welcome a host of DJs and live acts and the Bushrocker Hifi will play home to a plethora of DJs spinning roots, reggae and dub including Asher G- The Rocksteady Daddy who will be a sure fire hit with his blend of rare, raw and hardcore ja music.

These additions join the previously announced Saturday headliners, British electronic pioneers Orbital, dub king Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, legendary French house producer Etienne de Crecy and Euro pop perfection Black Lace who will be performing in the Working Men’s Club. Making their UK festival debut will be The Parov Stelar Band who will be entertaining the crowds with a full six piece band. Psychedelic rock, electronica and techno will come courtesy of Death In Vegas , ska kings The Beat, Drum and Bass legend Goldie, Border Community founder James Holden, label mate Nathan Fake, and Ninja Tune’s finest export Mr Scruff further make up The Beat-Herder’s varied and carefully considered line up, which can be read in its entirety below.

Entering into its seventh year, The Beat-Herder Festival will be returning to rural Lancashire with its unique formula of live music, locally sourced food & drink and an unpretentious Northern ethos. Based on the simple desire to ‘bring good people together to have a good time in beautiful surroundings’, Beat-Herder is one of the few festivals on the circuit that eschews sponsorship, corporate branding and egos in favour of independent and local stall owners and a refreshingly hand-crafted site, creating a utopia from the outside world for 3 days each summer.

Over the years The Beat-Herder has grown to become nestled perfectly into the landscape around it. The famous Toil Trees stage, one of the most unique festival locations in the country, is set amongst tall firs, draped with throws and sails with spinning images projected onto the trunks and leaves. 2012 will continue to see new venues added that make the most of the beautiful natural surroundings, which includes over 4000 flowers which are lovingly nurtured from seed.

The infamous Beat-Herder Working Men’s Club, a mock-up of a working men’s club run by a group of Bette Lynch-esque ladies, will be making a much-welcomed return (expect Bingo, the hilarious ‘Beat-Herder’s Got Talent’, drag queen acts and much more), plus look out for the Raj themed ‘Rajazzle Tent’, which will be hosting unsigned acts ranging from hip hop to Bangra and a selection of top notch comedy acts on the Sunday.

There will be several other unique features to the festival including tasty home-made cakes and pies which can only be found in Lancashire and the intriguingly collectively titled ‘Crazed Inventions’ which include vibrating benches and a network of tunnels that lead you to different zones, ‘The Street’, a thespian orientated experience where one can get a  tattoo, a haircut or a wet shave, browse the book shop and antiques emporium, or play records in the DIY Garage disco and transport yourself  to different areas of the festival via the teleport phone box tunnel system .

For the first time, Boutique Camping will be available at The Beat-Herder. Accommodation will range from tipis, yurts and bell tents, all lovingly made locally by a close friend of the festival. There will be plenty of hot showers and flushing toilets for the more discerning punters. In typical Beat-Herder fashion these will be some of the most affordable boutique options on the festival circuit.

The Beat-Herder Festival is the brainchild of six creative Yorkshire men who were tired of overcrowded and pretentious festivals that were overrun with the same big brands and corporate sponsors. After first establishing in 2006, the festival has grown year on year both in terms of capacity and line up, and yet crucially the atmosphere remains one that is intimate, charming and above all friendly. For the first time, Boutique Camping will be available at the festival. Accommodation will range from tipi, yurt and bell tent and there will be plenty of hot showers and flushing toilet for the more discerning punters. The Beat-Herder attracts an extremely loyal crowd, so much so that 180 people have had The Beat-Herder logo tattooed, an indication of the passion put into making people feel at home at the festival.

Jazzanova takes it to the next stage: The Funkhaus Studio Sessions.

Whoever had the chance to see Jazzanova play live during the last three years knows how magical this experience can be. The Berlin based outfit transports the richness and sublimity of their productions (own compositions and remixes) perfectly on stage. And it adds this extra twist to the performance which makes the music even more tangible and human. In last November the 2 producers of Jazzanova, Stefan Leisering & Axel Reinemer & the original Jazzanova touring band (see below for full line up) brought the spirit of their extensive worldwide tour to the studio to record a typical live set – this time with proper recording gear and state-of-art engineering equipment though.

The “Funkhaus Studio Sessions” marks Jazzanova’s first live album release. Including the songs the band learned to love the most on tour over the last three years as well as the audience’s favourites: From their initial breakthrough smash “Fedime’s Flight” to “Look What You’re Doin To Me” off the “Of All The Things” album from 2008 and renditions and interpretations of Jazzanova remixes (f.e. the remix for Fat Freddy’s Drop’s “Flashback“). The 14 track strong set also includes a brand new tune with “I Human“, co-written by vocalist and bass player Paul Randolph, a constant member of the live band and now of course the voice of the “Funkaus Studio Sessions“. An album that will please every Jazzanova fan and every true music lover with an affinity for warm, soulful, deep and genuine musicianship. When have you last heard a studio album so alive, fleshly, organic and solid a! t the same time? It captures the feeling of a live recording but without any flaws due to poor recording equipment or sound aesthetics.

NYC-based producer/DJ DROP THE LIME—born Luca Venezia–is branching out.  For his album ‘Enter The Night’, out 2nd July on Ultra Music, he adds songwriter, guitarist and vocalist to his credits.  With passion for bass and a thirst for blood, he weaves a baroque night time fantasy, riding the range from the ashes of rave into the dark heart of rock & roll.  The first official single from the album is ‘Bandit Blues,’ out 21st May, with its accompanying video to be made available soon.

His music (like his life) is an epic adventure of mystery, heartbreak and magic, combining the gun-slinging swagger of Ennio Morricone, the techno grandeur of Underworld, and the storytelling prowess of Johnny Cash. As influenced by Richie Valens as Richie Hawtin, ‘Bandit Blues’ finds Venezia marrying his blues guitar licks and unmistakably sultry croon to the sheer dance music wizardry that has become his trademark. It was New York City—where, in addition to New Orleans and London, he recorded the album–that was the draw for ‘Bandit Blues.’

“Being born there and having so much love for the city means I wear it on my sleeve,” says Venezia of ‘Enter The Night’s  first single.  “It’s an incredible inspiration for me, but right now, it feels like there’s a lot of struggle going on with the economy and the people. The economy being a mess, politics being a mess–everything is a mess. The only way to really enjoy it is through music.”
