A couple weeks back Belgian songwriter Stromae came down to the Brownswood studios in North London to meet Gilles. We decided to film the conversation where the two talk about Stromae’s musical beginnings, early influences such as Congolese rumba and salsa, as well as the role music videos play in his songwriting, discussing the ‘Tous Les Memes’ and ‘Papaoutai’ videos.
Stromae also discusses his cross-generational appeal as well as his future plans, incorporating new influences into the follow up to his sophomore album, ‘Racine Carree’.
Ahead of the fourth installment of the Brownswood Electr*c compilation, we catch up with the artists through a series of questions about themselves. Here we have for you, Novis Jr.

Gilles is back in the studio for another Saturday afternoon mix up selection, joining the musical dots between soul, hip hop, house, afro, electronica, jazz and beyond in his own inimitable style.
