So next up on our label we’ve got this dope double a-side from South Coast duo Kry Wolf
GMR011 – Kry Wolf – Off The Reel/Scream – FORTHCOMING by greenmoneyrecordings
This will be dropping on the 9th July, straight off the back of their excellent Black & Blue EP.
The duo have been putting out some of the freshest new talent on their own label, Sounds of Sumo for some time, as well as throwing some of the biggest parties on the south coast under their Sumo brand.
Obsessively putting in the studio hours, their productions range from house, garage, tech, funky to experimental as they continually refuse to be pigeon-holed. With names like Zinc, Mary Anne Hobbs, A-Trak, Sub Focus, The Martin Brothers, Mosca, AC Slater, Roska, Lil Silva and even Kreayshawn dropping their tracks, the word of the Wolf is spreading fast!
So we’re excited to announce that the next release on our label will be Kalbata’s ‘Freetown’ and ‘Skanker’, two in-demand tracks that have been tearing up dancefloors for those that have received the early promo. The release drops on the 30th April and you can preview both below.
Kalbata, real name Arial Tagar, has a distinct musical approach that takes influence from early dancehall right through to 2-Step, Grime and Dubstep.
Singed to legendary Soul Jazz Records, Kalbata collaborated with MC’s Warrior Queen, Clapper Priest and 80′s Rub-A-Dub legends, Jah Thomas and Little John for his various 12″s on the label. For his most recent one, he travelled to Jamaica to record a totally analog dub record with live instruments on a 16 track tape machine in the spirit of King Tubby.
(Kalbata interview for Slices DVR magazine in 2009)
In 2009 Kalbata was the man behind the Dubstep anthem ‘Ninja We Ninja’ later featured on the UK Feature film ‘Shank’. Other 12″s to his name came out on labels such as Double Science, Botanika, Scotch Bonnet and Yellow Machines as well as a string of big remixes for artists such as Spank Rock, Roll Deep, The Count & Sinden, Fat Freddy’s Drop, Sunship & Jahcoozi. Kalbata recently took part in Greensleeves Dubstep, a remix album on Greensleeves Records with reinterpretations of the classic Greensleeves back catalog in modern bass music, with remixes by Mala, Horsepower prod. The Bug & more.
Kalbata is also the owner of Reggae Re-Issue label Spring Hill, committed to unearthing and re-releasing tough and obscure reggae tracks from the 70′s and 80′s.
This release is an absolute banger and Kalbata is just warming up, keep up with his movements here
After hitting the number 1 spot in the Juno Download Garage chart last week, Mista Men’s ‘Cardiac Arrest EP’ is now available in all digital stores. The release has picked up some serious heat and support from all angles over the past few weeks and is arguably the duo’s strongest work to date. Grab at the following…

Two of the best shows we played last year were for Basslaced at Cable in South London. Unfortuantely the second show was memorable for all the wrong reasons when Leo got caught short at the end of our set and had to make use of the sink of in the venue’s medical room, much to the annoyance of the security team! Despite this we’re all still friends, so much so that we were invited to provide a mix and interview for their latest podcast, it was done in December last year but due to delays with their new site it has only just gone up. You can check it all here!
