Three back 2 back shows with Nick Warren in the U.S.
May 10th-Spybar, Chicago
May 11th-Monarch Theatre-Phoenix
May 12th-Harlot, San Franciso
Back again with another deadly package, its the mighty Sudbeat, and taking firm controls once again are label boss Hernan Cattaneo and studio partner Soundexile.
This time we are graced with Cityism, a deep hypnotic melodic housey tinged techster with layers of synths and sounds meeting fx and spoken vocal samples. The deep bass drives this along while the melodies tinkle brightly.
The seriously on form Pig & Dan step up with the first of the remixes, and strip things right back with an infectious techno groove that punches along, and then builds with drum fills and snippets of melody, and as the tension builds the melody develops – all the while keeping it solid and deep.
Richie G a definite rising talent on the scene is next on remix duties, and delivers a contagious number with distinctive pads, a moving tough yet profound bassline, vocal snippets and tight production that locks you right in. Another top remix.
To close the package is the Dub Mix from Hernan Cattaneo & Soundexile who utilse the main elements from the original, but strip things back and increase the intensity while taking us deeper with its driving, almost rolling bassline.
With quality like this, its no wonder that Sudbeat is causing such a fuss across the underground musical spectrum.

Oozing of quality, keeping the vibe deep, while the pads raise the temperature to a peak time level, the vocal samples draws you in and make you smile and you realise that this track really is a quality gem.
First of the remixes goes to Dutch maestro Egbert. He has been making himself one of the most in demand producers of the techno scene having released on Cocoon , Tronic and Gem. His remix takes us deeper, while adding a techier edge, with cool percussion and manages to hold us down as the track grooves along. Crisp clicks meet intricate patterns while the vocal sneaks in and blissful sounds awash your mind. The warmth from the original seeps through as this uber cool remix develops.
Closing the package are Audiotox & Watson from label boss Hernan Cattaneo’s home country of Argentina. These guys are really turning out some quality tracks on fine labels including 99 Percent and Bonzai Progressive.
This remix utilizes the big pads from the original, while the deep and warm bass sounds glide over the cool beats. Its hypnotically sizzling along, gently clutching you close, allowing you to dream snugly as you move.

After a seriously great year for Sudbeat in 2012 featuring music from Nick Warren, Guy J, Vincenzo, Dave Seaman, Microtarauma, Christian Smith and Argy to name just a few.. they’re back for 2013 sporting brand new artwork and the main man himself back with a release Hernan Cattaneo and his studio partners Soundexile.
Read the full article for samples.
And so lets start with the original from Hernan Cattaneo & Soundexile with Infoxication, a deep infectious housey edged groover with techie tinges. Warm, phat and a full sound hypnotically locks you in, while subtle melodics ping around adding space and depth. Deeper then many would expect from the pair, but proving their musical diversity, this really is a tasty slab of underground goodness.
To complete this package is an awesome choice of remixer Chaim who has released on such formidable labels as Supplement Facts and Cocoon. His mix utilises the main melodies from the original, but taking the track more stripped back, providing plenty of space, leaving your mind to wander as the track weaves from moments of melody to times of just bassline and kick drum. Its deep, deadly and will work a treat on the Worlds coolest dance floors.
An awesome set of tracks to add to your sets
Hernan will be playing along Luciano and Steve Angello on January 5th 2013 at El Jagüel, Punta del Este, Uruguay, in the Punta del Este Summer Festival.

Renaissance has had a bigger part than most in the advancement of the mix compilation. Back when they began in 1992 ‘commercially available’ mixes mainly consisted of poorly recorded tapes sold from behind the counter at record shops, but things soon changed. In 1994 they released the first ever ‘The Mix Collection’ (selected and mixed by Sasha and John Digweed), pioneering the ‘mix cd’ in the process.
Now as they celebrate their twentieth year of activity they end 2012 on a bang with a flurry of compilations. The first is the seventh delivered by South American legend Hernan Cattaneo, an artist who has become synonymous with the meticulous manifesto of melody that defines Renaissance’s. Constantly pushing forward, Hernan routinely delivers mesmerizingly mixed collections that soar throughout the full canon of House and Techno, dreamily imagined collages of sound.
The first disc shuffles between deep house and off kilter electronic grooves, boasting productions from the likes of Guy J, Ripperton, Guy Gerber and Martin Garcia. Highlights include the subtle piano led electronics of diskJokke’s stunning re-interpretation of Comphunoic’s ‘Sequoia’ or the masterful ‘Ventura’ by Hal Incadenza; an alias for exciting Spanish DJ Henry Saiz. The latter has been edited by Hernan specifically for the collection and is the final one of eight personal remixes/productions that features on the mix.
The second selection sees Hernan notching up the energy levels and heading into more driving territory. Guy Gerber’s haunting take on the Cevin Fisher and Layo & Bushwacka collaboration ‘Dancing in the Dark’ is an early pace-setter, whilst the stirring melodies of the Microtrauma remix of Ümit Han ‘An Einem Traurigen Morgen’ also grab your attention. Again Hernan’s productions and remixes feature heavily with four on offer here before the album draws to a stunning close, the soaring synths and euphoric rush of Agoria creating a jaw-dropping finale.
The overall result is classic Hernan and classic Renaissance; two sumptuously mixed offerings which distil both the DJ and the brand in immaculate fashion. Better yet it works as a pointer to the global sounds that are currently dominating dancefloors, a picture perfect barometer of the electronic pulse that is making feet move the world over.

It has played host to royalty, concert pianists, world class dancers and even the odd Beatle or two, now one of Liverpool’s architectural gems is to host part of the 20 year celebrations for one of the world’s most iconic music brands – Renaissance. More info, video, pictures and ticket links on the full post
A pioneering music brand, which helped launch the careers of many a world class DJ, Renaissance kicked off its 20-year celebrations in Birmingham and Leeds with Sasha at the helm. Now, thanks to the work of Liverpool promoters, Freeze, the next installment of the celebration will be held in St George’s Hall in September.
Taking place on Saturday, September 15th, the event will see the Grade I listed building reverberate to the sounds of some of Renaissance’s biggest names – Hernan Cattaneo, Henry Saiz, Danny Howells, Ghosting Season and Jemmy, plus a very special guest DJ still to be announced.
One of the figureheads of the modern Renaissance sound, Argentinean DJ Hernan Cattaneo headlines the event alongside tech-house legend, Danny Howells. The September gig marks a return to Liverpool for Cattaneo and Howells, who both delivered awe-inspiring sets at Freeze’s last event – in Liverpool Cathedral last year.
Of course, Howells and Cattaneo aren’t the only DJs who will be on the decks in the latest Liverpool landmark to get the Freeze treatment.
Rising star on the melodic house and techno scene, Henry Saiz will also be making his return to Liverpool. Henry’s Balance 19 Compilation won him Best Compilation at the prestigious Spanish Dj Mag awards earlier this year, in which he also picked up awards for Best Label for his Natura Sonoris imprint and Best Live Act.
Ghosting Season, an exciting new band signed to Sasha’s Last Night on Earth label, and described by Mixmag as the ones to watch for 2012, will be performing a live set on the night. Completing the list will be home-grown star Jemmy, whose EP Quarry Bank Rainbow will be released on the Renaissance label this summer.
One of the world’s finest neo-classical buildings, St George’s Hall was originally built as a venue for music festivals in the 1850s. A majestic setting for Renaissance’s 20 year celebrations, the hall, which Charles Dickens is said to have dubbed: ‘The most perfect hall in the world’, is part of Liverpool’s World Heritage site.
Being held in a venue as grand and jaw-droppingly beautiful as St George’s Hall, the September 15 event is sure to go down in Liverpool clubbing history as a night of monumental proportions.
This is the first event that Freeze have put on in the city following their hugely successful night in Liverpool Cathedral in April 2011. Over a year since it happened, Freeze’s cathedral event is still talked about by Liverpool clubbers and the upcoming Renaissance night is sure to be another night to go down in clubbing history.
Following the St George’s Hall event, an exclusive after-party is being held in a secret venue, for which just 500 tickets are available. Continuing Freeze’s emotional commitment to Breast Cancer awareness, a percentage of all ticket sales will be donated to the cause.
Start from £15, and are available from:
3b Records on Slater street Liverpool
Some July shows are being rescheduled at the moment.

Renaissance artist and Audio Therapy boss Dave Seaman teams up with Tel Aviv based producer Guy Mantzer on the latest smash from Sudbeat.
Available on Beatport now: http://www.beatport.com/release/k9/935110
Seaman really needs no introduction. 20 years within the industry and a career that has taken in chart smashes and dancefloor anthems has seen him cement his position as one of the leading electronic artists and DJ’s, of all time. Mantzur has gained recent global success through his music for the dancfloor, TV and film. Resident of Tel-Aviv’s The Cat & The Dog club, Guy is also co-owner of the Munich based Plattenbank imprint.
“K9″ sees the pair construct a brooding, atmospheric and epic electronic landscape that has already been a igniting their 2012 sets. Parquet boss Solee is drafted in on remix duty and delivers a trademark richly textured bass-heavy masterpiece. “K9″, a mans best friend!
For their latest release, Sudbeat look to the southern hemisphere once again and an artist who over recent years, has firmly established himself as one of Australia’s most promising DJ’s and producers, Rich Curtis.
Having studied under the masters of progressive house, supporting the true heavyweights as they’ve toured Queensland, Rich Curtis has become the ultimate touring support for the likes of Sasha, John Digweed and of course Hernan Cattaneo.
Having carved out a successful career as a DJ and party promoter, 2010 saw Rich turn his attention to the art of production. His first releases were immediately picked up by Cid Inc for Replug Records and since then he has gone on to release and remix for labels including…… “Open Other End” is a perfect example of Rich’s talent for creating epic and uplifting, synth-laden and wonderfully melodic pieces.
On the remixes Sudbeat welcome two label debutants. A fresh new talent in Nikko Z and the established Dutch producer, Paul Hazendonk. Greek producer Nikko Z, a graduate of the International Institute of Athens, is a producer on the rise. His rework adds more drive to the original as he matches abrasive synth riffs with delicate melodies. Manuel Music boss Hazendonk takes us on a deeper journey, tenderly layering his sounds, topping them with a dreamy key melody.
Greek producer Nick Varon steps up to make his full release debut on Sudbeat. Having been bitten by the house music bug through regular visits to London, it wasn’t long before Nick was DJ’ing and stepping behind the decks himself. A residency at Athens’ Venue Club saw him sharing the decks with many of the biggest names. His strength for delivering the perfect ‘warm-up’ lead to Hernan Cattaneo requesting Varon to open for him throughout Greece. A partnership that still flourishes today.
Having now toured the world, playing many events with the Sudbeat boss, the time has come for Nick to present his own work on the label. “Shibuya” and “Mohnblumchen” showcase the Greek’s ability for creating beautifully deep and uplifting compositions. Turning their talents to reworking “Mohnblumchen” are Israeli Guy Mantzur and Columbia’s Rikesto.
Hernan will be playing at Moonpark Buenos Aires on April 14th.
Franco Cinelli 22-24
Guy Gerber 24-02.00
Hernan Cattaneo 02.00-06.00
Hernan will be playing at the WMC this year, on the following gigs:
Bedrock at Cameo on the 22nd
Mynt on the 23rd, with Nick Warren and Danny Howells
No Sugar Added at Nikki Beach on the 24th
Guy J makes a much anticipated return to Sudbeat for the first time sinks his 2009 “Pleasurety” ep. The Bedrock artist is one of the most consistent and productive artists of today and 2011 was yet another bumper year for the Israeli. At the close of the year we were treated to “Meridian” his co-production with Henry Saiz on Bedrock, his remix of Sian’s “Sacred Geography” on Octopus and his stunning “Soul Of Arp” release on Funk D’Void’s Outpost Recordings.
Having already kicked of 2012 with a bumper remix package for Bedrock, we find Guy already in blistering form. His latest double-header for Sudbeat kicks off with “High,” a powerful techie uplifting number that grooves throughout and, whilst it does tempt us with a ‘take off’, the track teasingly never peaks. Cocoon artist Marc Marzenit however, shoots us into the stratosphere. Building the intensity throughout his mix, its powerful drums and dramatic melody create an arena rocking moment.
Guy’s second original “Pathos” is a wonderfully warm and atmospheric number. Sweeping strings and staccato melody give a warm and euphoric feeling. Bringing a similar feeling with his warping baseline and dreamy melody is Sudbeat artist Luis Junior.
artist: MARC POPPCKE
title: DISPLAYED EMOTIONS / HISTORY REPEATING
mixes: Dosem / Deepfunk
cat #: SB23
release date: 19/01/12
(see the full article for more info and sample)
Having never been bound by musical boundaries, Hildesheim’s Marc Poppcke has successfully created and released music across a variety of genres for a host of the finest labels. His unique mastering of melody has seen him presenting modern, emotional and uplifting of house music for Diynamic Music, Plastic City, Darkroom Dubs, Freerange and Defected, each bathing in the warmth of Marc’s work. Today its the turn of Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat.
True to its title, lead cut “Displayed Emotions” sees Marc delivering an impressively uplifting, somewhat trancey slice of house. Spritely melodies glisten as powerful synth chords build upon each other. “History Repeating” is more of the same, with an added helping of Acid. Warm melody, mighty pulsing synth drops and the bubbling acidic underbelly, make for a mysterious and groovy number.
SB023 | Marc Poppcke ‘Displayed Emotions’ (Dosem remix) by Sudbeat
Fellow master of the melodic arts, Spain’s Dosem, steps up to deliver an epic rework of “Displayed Emotions”, whilst Malta’s Deepfunk displays cinematic vision with his Sunset Mix of “History Repeating.”
Lonya has blazing a musical trail over the last couple of years. His sophisticated, melodic and rich textured productions, whilst often bearing a resemblance to past progressive sounds, reach far further into the modern musical consciousness.
Lonya’s short but sparkling discography has seen him release on labels including Supplemental, Bpitch Control, Konsequenz, Sweat Lodge and Elevation. Not only an artist, but also a label owner, running the rapidly growing, Asymmetric Recordings.
Fond of working as a team, Lonya has already released a host of material alongside friends including Chaim, James Blonde Oliver Deutschmann and Hakimonu. Sudbeat 022 sees the Israeli once again playing tag-team, this time with Zombi, as the pair present “Kalanoit.”
The original is an anthem in the making, with its cinematic strings, angelic vocal and regal horns. The first of the remixes comes fellow Israeli’s Audio Junkies, who whilst powering from the off with their big synth bass, create a mysterious atmosphere, once again with strings and vocal playing their part. The final mix is from the fair hands of the young Argentinian, Dark Soul Project. True to their name the mix is deep, epic and laden with drums and groove.
Hernan will join Nick Warren to play back to back on 3 gigs in the United States
Thursday 15 – Glow, Washingthon DC
Friday 16 – Sound Bar, Chicago
Saturday 17 – Avaland, Los Angeles
El Row will not open on Sunday, a new date will be announced soon.
Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat imprint welcomes Nick Warren with his debut release, “Rumbletump.”
2011 has been a successful and productive year for the Bristol based DJ / Producer. His mastery of the Compilation Mix was in evidence once again on May’s “Balance 018,” and the same month saw him present “Buenos Aires”, the single that also marked the 100th Release of his beloved Hope Recordings. Alongside remixes of Danny Howells, Tom Glass and Tripswitch plus appearances on compilations from Bedrock and Vapour, and as busy a touring schedule as ever before, it been a hectic twelve months for Mr Warren.
“Rumbletump” is trademark ‘Warren.’ Deep, wonderfully moody and bubbling with atmospherics and piercing synth melody. The first of the remixes comes from German duo and fellow Sudbeat debutants, Microtrauma. Renowned for their work on “TRAUM Schallplatten” the guys inject some pace and drive with their mix whilst still keeping the expansive feeling. Label regular Monaque brings the ‘bass’ on his rework. Heavy bottom-end, solid kick-drum and lazer-synths help his remix to round out the release perfectly.
