|BIG UPs to sixteen-year-old Josh Peverley, a Bestival forum regular and passionate music lover, who has proved - once again - that autism is no barrier to successful events promotion. Next Friday 18th May Josh has organised an intimate gig at Ryde’s Blacksheep Club Lounge to raise funds for the Island’s Barely Born appeal.
And he's got Bestival curator Rob da Bank along to headline the gig, as Josh explains:
"I am really excited to announce that Rob da Bank is set to headline this very intimate gig with a DJ set. Joining Rob on the bill will be Bestival Island DJ competition winners, the Playground Syndicate and Maxx Traxx, and adding to the atmosphere will be The AV Circus with some spectacular visuals."
"I can’t wait and can’t think of a better way to raise money. Everyone’s just been so supportive. Annie Horne’s given me the Blacksheep, all the DJs are giving up their time to help, as is Tim from the AV Circus and the guys from Widget who are doing sound and free hire of equipment for us.The biggest worry for me is getting past the bouncers on the night being only 16 haha! We are a small Island, but we have a massive heart and I aim to prove this by raise as much money as possible for this very special Island charity."
In April 2011, Josh, who has Autistic Spectrum Disorder, staged a music and comedy night that raised over £1,200 for the National Autistic Society and featured some of the Island’s top bands — which he had hand picked.
Doors open at 9pm and this is for strictly over 18s only. Advanced tickets for the event are available from Visual Impact in Newport and the Blacksheep Bar in Ryde, priced at just £6. Tickets are expected to sell out, so buy in advance to avoid disappointment; however any spare tickets will be available on the door priced at £8.
