Your guide to ADE: techno & minimal

August 16 2012

This is part one of a series of items in which DJBroadcast will guide you through the ADE festival program. Genre by genre. First up: techno and minimal!Awakenings - Wed 17, Thu 18, Fri 19 Oct, WestergasfabriekAwakenings is the household name for quality techno events at monumental locations in Holland. For the first time, Awakenings takes control of the amazing Westergasfabriek for three days of parties. Headlining the nights are artists like Richie Hawtin, Carl Cox, and Adam Beyer. And they will bring in some friends. Lots of them.Ovum Recordings – Wed 17 Oct, Chicago Social ClubAn ADE edition without techno’s mr nice-guy Josh Wink just does not feel right. That’s why we are very happy to welcome our friend from Philly for an acid-driven techno set alongside Steve Bug, the man behind Pokerflat Recordings, Shlomi Aber, and more.Rejected – Thu 18 Oct, Studio 80Although ‘Voorn’ in Dutch is a small fish, having Joris and his Rejected peers at our event definitely equals a big catch. Especially with Detroit originator Derrick May, Deetron, and of course his label partner Edwin Oosterwal joining him on the bill. Be sure to wear comfy shoes…Chris Liebing presents CLR ADE 2012 - Fri 19 Oct, UndercurrentTalking about nice guys in techno; there’s no way to wipe the smile of Chris Liebing’s face, who seems to still enjoy every minute of playing banging tunes. With Tommy Four Seven and Terrence Fixmer on his side, the man from Germany has exactly the back-up he needs for a night to remember.Mobilee ADE Session – Fri 19 Oct, Het SieraadHow to survive a hype? Ask Anja Schneider, and she will answer you that the key lies in focusing on quality. She will deliver another fine example of what her Mobilee imprint is all about, underlined by performances by Pan-Pot, Sebo K, Rodriguez Jr., and others.Systematic Recordings – Fri 19 Oct, Chicago Social ClubMarc Romboy in the hizzouse! Until 08:00 in the morning. The main hall features sets by people like Christian Smith, Satoshi Tomiie, Robert Babicz. The Lounge is the territory of Paul Hazendonk and his Manual Music posse. A piece of advice: don’t make the rookie mistake of planning breakfast with your inlaws the next day. Cocoon showcase  - Sat 20 Oct, Convention FactoryMr. Sven Väth’s Cocoon label is always represented at ADE. The big man himself will not be there, but the line-up is mind-blowing nonetheless with people like Ricardo Villalobos with a 4 hour-set, Guy Gerber live, Raresh en various local heroes like Darko Esser, Rauwkost, and Bas Amro. Bla Bla ‘Daytime Madness’ – Sat 20 Oct, Het SieraadAnother piece of advice: don’t skip breakfast altogether, because you need to stay fit for the next stop: Bla Bla ‘Daytime Madness’ at Het Sieraad. So no sleep till Bla Bla, ok? Daniel Sanchez lined up a crazy line-up to get you through the day. Technasia, Pig & Dan, Mauro Picotto, good old 2000 and One, and many others will be bringing the madness.Voltt – Sat 20 Oct, ParadisoBart Skils’ Voltt crew has been responsible for a series of legendary events over the past couple of years. Happy to see them at ADE, as well as the artists they will be bringing: Mathew Jonson, Mathias Kaden, Miniloque, Kabale und Liebe, and Lauhaus. To name a few.Tresor meets Deeply Rooted House – Sat 20 Oct, Hotel ArenaWir sind allen Berliners! Especially when it comes to techno parties. Tresor brings a bit of Berlin techno flavour, while the other room at Hotel Arena goes French with DJ Deep’s fine Deeply Rooted House label.
