My cousins in the statesDirtybirdThis is the official Facebook page for dirtybird. There are a bunch of pages but this is the only official page. In 2005, “dirtybird,” the record label began releasing vinyl. At the same time, Barclay created the DJ alias “Claude VonStroke” as a joke but the name stuck forever after the debut record “Deep Throat” sold through more than 11,000 vinyl copies worldwide. Since that time both the label and the dirtybird party have enjoyed great success. Some classic records released by dirtybird include “Deep Throat,” “Stoopit,” “Who’s Afraid of Detroit?,” and “The Whistler.” Artists on the label are mostly from San Francisco (like Justin Martin, Worthy, and Claude VonStroke) but recently some internationals have been popping up as well.

Rumour has it the B&S;edits 12" is on the shelves of Idle Hands. Featuring the Faith Evans edit from my Essential mix and a slow-mo version of Father Father on the B-sideIdle HandsThe Idle Hands label was founded in 2009 by Chris Farrell whilst working at Rooted Records. The first release was from Peverelist, followed by music from Atki2, Dub Boy, Kowton, Headhunter and Szare. The label is focused on raw and grooving electronic dance tracks. The Idle Hands shop was set up at the start of 2011 following the closure of Rooted Records. It was felt that Bristol needed a physical record store to represent the city's thriving underground dance music scene. The Idle Hands agency was set up to push some of our artists and fellow travellers. Bookings handled for Kowton, Szare, Asusu, Kidkut, Outboxx, Andy Mac and the Kelly Twins.

Follow a man who straddles the line of being a thug and a gentleman like nobody elseMoscaMosca's tracks are primarily built to power dance floors, but they are also deceptively sophisticated. As both a DJ and a producer, the London-based artist draws influences from dancehall, grime, bassline, UK garage, funky, hiphop and all types of underground deep, soulful and techy house, as well as dabbling in techno, world beats and RnB. But having played straight sets of house, bashment or grime, Mosca is no stranger to perfecting a certain sound. 2010 was a great year with his debut 'Square One EP' kick-starting the Night Slugs label, from which 'Nike' was voted no.1 in XLR8R's favourite tracks of 2010. Since then he has hooked up with Fabric to release 'Gold Bricks, I See You', as well as remixing Vybz Kartel, Gucci Mane, Four Tet and Foals. His remix of 'Heartbeat' took the world of UK funky by storm, while hiphop tempo 'Tilt Shift' united ravers from grime youngers to soulful house heads. Championed by Gilles Peterson, DJ Q, Mary Anne Hobbs and Benji B as well as having regular airplay on Rinse FM, Deja Vu FM and other pirates, Mosca's appeal is broad and stretches far beyond the UK. With upcoming releases on 3024, Hypercolour and Ghost House, the rest of 2011 looks to be a busy year for the self-confessed music lover.
